Happy New Year! I’m resolving to leave my smartphone in my office(other side of house) an hour before I go to bed.
It should give me some time to catch up on my reading, be more present with my spouse in the evenings, and not immediately get sucked into my phone when I wake up in the morning.
I am spending some time at the beginning of 2025 doing some travelling and visiting family and friends. We live in Colorado and are finishing up a trip to Texas to spend time with our children, grandchildren, and friends. Then after a short rest, we will be heading to Australia to see family and friends from the Aussie side.
Reading is good. I'll spend time reading some good stories (I love those intriguing thrillers) and some wonderful positive things about our future. This includes learning more about bitcoin. Lastly, I will spend time learning from the Bible.
Since we live in Colorado, we will probably be staying there during the summer.
All the best. I really enjoy the education I have received from your writings and podcast appearances.
I started reading more fiction about 6 months ago so right there with you. I work remotely so plan on traveling more. My wife and I just applied for a EU passport ( US citizens ), and hope to be using this. Thanks for all you do.
Lucky you if you can escape from time to time. I don’t work, so I immerse myself in everything related to Bitcoin, macro and global economics typically 12 hours a day 5 days a week… And I’m really thankful for people like you, Luke Groman, Lyn Alden, and Jeff Booth, Thank you , and let us all have a great 2025 👍
Thanks for this newsletter. I’ve learned so much and couldn’t be more appreciative for what you have done for our community.
I am both a real estate investor and Bitcoiner (I know, not common). I am going to continue to find ways to draw the worlds together:
1) Using a BTC stack to collateralize a fiat loan. Using that loan to private money lend (short duration) to other REIs for their flips; Yields 12-20%. Use the yield to buy more BTC.
2) converting our rental portfolio to a BTC standard. Use proceeds to buy more BTC, instead of paying down principle.
3) collateralize new construction with BTC.
Just some possibilities that I see to make real estate and BTC more accretive.
Hi James, Thanks so much for all the time you put into The Informationist but also all the great interviews you have done. As a late comer to the investment/Crypto world I really appreciate your clarity and level headed approach and I look forward to all your insights this year. Follow the puck not the player.
Reading more fiction sounds like a great way to relax and cleanse the pallet!
I'm currently reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir it's pretty good so far. Sci-fi thriller with some humor. I am also trying to read more fiction to give my mind a break from information overload. Next year I want to spend more time doing more creative/ art focused stuff. Still working out the details.
Hey James! As always, thank you for everything you do. I love settling in with my coffee every Sunday to read The Informationist and LEARN.
In 2025, I'm spending LESS time working (I taught 100's of people how to use TradingView, free & paid indicators from InvestAnswers, technical analysis and how to trade options) and MORE time on my health (eating better, working out more frequently & riding my bike more like I used to prior to 2024). To enable this, I've scaled my business so that I can actually help MORE people with LESS time on my part.
🤣🤣🤣 James, I have the morning off and I got all excited to sit down with my coffee and read your Sunday message! I guess I’ll have to settle for reading an old one this week, 🤣🤣🤣
This was literally the first time I sat down with a coffee and iPad specifically to read your email. Normally just reading on my phone. 😂
LOL! Same here Rich. It's cold and rainy outside (here in Blue Ridge, GA), had just made a hot coffee and was going to read it on my computer vs phone. 😉
More fiction is a great goal for ‘25. At its best, fiction is far more valuable and practical than most people give it credit for. I recommend Ninety-Three and/or The Hunchback of Notre Dame, both by Victor Hugo. While not explicitly thrillers or mysteries, they are packed with action, suspense and drama!

Outsmart the smartphone. I like the plan!
HNY, James. Best of luck in the coming dystopia.
Ha. Thank you Lee!

Hey Mark, thanks for the kind words. Your travel plan and 2025 sounds fantastic. I’d stay put in Colorado for the summer, too.
Thank you, James, and a Happy New Year to you too!

Thanks Jim, I’m working on my EU passport through Plan B. Will update you all on that journey soon!

2025 Goals:
Start new job - get promoted within first 12 months.
Take family on 2 week tour of Yellowstone, Tetons, Arches, Zion and Grand Canyon
Increase BTC holdings by 10%
Not all of them, but a good start.
